More About Tõnya Lewis Taylor

CEO/philanthropist/singer-songwriter and author Tonya Lewis-Taylor sits at the helm of the New York-based I WILL GRADUATE Youth Development Agency.  She is also the Co-founder/Executive Director of Entertainers 4 Education Alliance headquartered in New York City a non-profit organization that enlist celebrities and high-profile individuals to stress the importance and coolness of being educated.  Entertainers 4 Education Alliance and the I WILL GRADUATE Program have given students the motivation and support to both graduate and excel in school via  grants to public school students to help pay for college, school programs, parent engagement, community outreach, exciting empowerment events and , public service announcements about the importance of educational excellence.

Taylor's work has been celebrated and awarded several proclamations by New York City’s Mayors DeBlasio and Bloomberg, as well as former NYS Governor David Patterson for outstanding service—declaring I WILL GRADUATE DAY for the city and state of New York. Further recognition includes New York’s Daily News naming her one of New York City’s Great People, MSNBC honoring her as a Foot Soldier, and Columbia University naming her New Yorker of the Week.

As a former celebrity publicist/marketing executive in the music industry, her work includes a tenure at Roc-A-Fella Records. A gifted and multifaceted performer, Taylor toured and performed in over 45 countries singing backup for notables Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and gospel luminaries including Fred Hammond and Donnie McClurkin. Her Off-Broadway work includes “Mama I Want to Sing” and “Gospel Is.”

With the 2014 release of her debut album Delayed But Not Denied, she made Billboard’s Top 15 with her single, “Thank you” and again hitting Billboard’s Top 25 with a song from her 2016 sophomore album, I've Got To Win entitled, “I'm a Winner”. She’s been featured throughout the media and has been the recipient of numerous other awards and recognitions.
